Step into a the quiet calm in Moroccan Riff Mountains. You hear birds chirping, donkeys gently chewing on dry grass, and the distant sound of stones gliding back and forth. Dust from unpaved roads brushes against your skin and hair. Your hands are covered in earth and clay. You smile at the intimate scene around you, surrounded by other ceramic artists being taught by Mama Aïcha, an 80-some-year-old ceramics artisan using traditional hand-building techniques.

This visual documentation was self-produced by our founder and Creative Director, Jane Alice Liu, on her own journey as a ceramicist.
